Housekeeper / Maid
They are responsible for making sure all defined areas of the home are clean, neat, and tidy. This includes all types of indoor household cleaning and may include, for example, organizing tasks assigned by the employer including cleaning "projects" (e.g. cleaning and organizing an untidy closet). Typical responsibilities include, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, mopping and waxing floors, changing linen, etc. etc.. Some Housekeeper/Maid positions also require cooking or food preparation. This should be specified early in the interview process if required.
Nanny
The main role of a nanny is to provide a safe and stimulating environment in which a child can develop and feel it is being cared for. Although never a total substitute for a mother, a nanny needs to feel the same responsibilities and act accordingly. Daily tasks generally include helping children get dressed, having meals, cleaning up after children, helping them with schoolwork, organizing and engaging in activities with children, etc. etc.. Depending on the cirumstances responsibilities may include light housekeeping and other child care related tasks.
Babysitter
Unlike the role of a nanny, a babysitter in general deals with taking care of very young children. This requires special skills and a real feeling of responsibility. Young children rely strongly on maternal care and a good babysitter is able to give the warmth and attention that the baby needs. As these very young children are not able yet to express their needs in words, a babysitter has to pay constant attention to the child's behaviour.
Turkish families often view a nanny and babysitter together in the same role. However a nanny will tend to stay in permanently whereas a babysitter may be requested for just a specific time or period.
As with all the positions, be it a babysitter, maid, driver or cleaner, we pride ourselves in matching the applicant with the correct job. Only when both applicant and employer are settled in together working in harmony do we accept our job is finished.
